Teachers are always looking for ways to expose their students to other children, communities and cultures from around the world. Many schools have a similar social studies curriculum in grades K-8 where they learn about urban, suburban, and rural communities. I developed a collaborative wiki as a place where teachers and students can share information (including images, audio and video) about their communities, and in the process, learn about other communities. The more people we get to join, the more communities our students get to learn about!
Please visit our Community Connections Project Glogster info page for more information.
This project was developed by Kristen Paino (Technology Integrator at Avenues: The World School). If you have any questions, you may email Kristen at kpaino@avenues.org.

Comment by KimBerlY Formisano on November 11, 2012 at 9:34pm Hi Kristen, I am wondering if it is too late to join the community project. My students just completed making 2D maps of rural, urban, and suburban communities. We are about to embark on our continent study with a focus on the different types of communities. It would be fantastic to learn of communities around the world. Let me know.

We are starting to look for projects to share for #globalclassroom 2012-13 and yours fits the bill nicely :) We provide a platform for teachers to share ideas and network globally ... the responsibility for the project lies with the coordinator. We focus on the publicity & building teacher communities :)
Cheers,
Michael
