Creating A Positive Future for the Planet--or "United We Stand With our Heads in the Sand"?
I believe that those of us who are deeply involved with the global education/global awareness movement are being challenged to create an important part of our own and our children's future. I am sometimes (frankly) discouraged in this effort in the face of apparently well-funded and persistent "international education" and "climate change" detractors and deniers, whose motto might as well be "United We Stand--With Our Heads in the Sand." What Does It Mean to Think Beyond Borders?
This is neither a geography question nor a simple academic concern. Tacoma teachers on strike, what should they do? Go back for the kids, or stick out out for themselves?
What does everyone think? Go back and negotiate while teaching so the children don't lose out on too much education, or just go cold turkey until they get the attention of some of the politicians?
I don't know how I feel. On one hand you have the kids who obviously need a good education but on the other hand you have the teachers who are trying to get their point across. Sticky situation :(

Makerere University lecturers are on strike and the students have been sent home. The government has threatened to sack the striking lecturers.
Today, the third term of the secondary and primary academic calendar begins, but teachers and the umbrella Uganda National Teachers Union are on strike too. The teachers, who want a 100 per cent pay raise, first went on strike in July.
All the strike have a 'money' element in them.
The government insists that there is no money to…
