About Me or Reason for Joining the GEC:
i work as computer instructor and media in charge at Alif laila Book Bus Society since 2008. ALLBS is a non-profit organization set up in 1978 to promote reading in children and provide hands on education to girls enrolled in government schools as well to children from disadvantaged groups. This hands on training is provided through four deparmetns, consisting of 1) Computers, 2) Art 3) Craft, 4) Electronics. ALLBS is a brand name in producing innovative early childhood education materials.
Like most of NGOs, Alif Laila operates on a shoe string budget and the success of its operations depends on the hard work and above and beyond the call of duty support of its staff members. The dilemma of limited resources and the hustle bustle of all those activities call for multitasking.
I am responsible for designing and implementing 2 year Computer course for class 6-7 for ALBBS Computer Department. This department offers computer education free of cost. Each week i handles about a 150 girls from 5 different government schools. i also teaches computer to Madrasah boys and girls from nearby community who cannot afford to pay heavy fees for such courses offered in other places. i works as a graphic designer responsible for designing flyers, informational pamphlets, product catalogs and newsletter, book covers, books, working with a variety of materials, including film media, animation, sound, images, illustration, type etc.
In the course of our work we design and implement advocacy campaigns promoting reading, girls’ education, environment, child rights and education reform. We believe our advocacy campaigns should be as beautiful as the kids they serve hence we go an extra mile in creating beautiful and innovative campaigns.
