Collaboration

I met Pam Allyn during her "Keynote" at the 2011 Global Conference!  I was immediately drawn to her work, bringing the best of literature to children all over the world.  Two days before Thanksgiving, I received information that Pearson Publishers were donating books to Navajo children for all the books that were read on-line by children.  You could choose the organization you wanted the books to go to.  The list of books for young children were…

Thanks so much for your comments, Marcy!  I see you've retired from teaching full-time, but just in case, we have a free 50-page Discussion Guide for the film with in-depth questions, activities, and additional resources available on the website at http://http://schoolingtheworld.org/film/discussion-guide/.  It's geared for middle-school through college age students, but a couple of the activities could be adapted for younger students (like the one where students write a sketch or make a short film about a team of Ladakhi education "aid" workers coming to the US to advise us on how to educate our children.)  Thanks again, and hope to bump into you sometime during the conference!  best, Carol
