ASCD is dedicated to excellence in learning, teaching, and leading so that every child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. Global engagement is one of ASCD’s five areas of focus so that all students are prepared for an interconnected global society. The Globally Competent Learning Continuum supports educators in achieving this important task. The free, online self-reflection tool designed for educators of all grade levels and subject areas breaks down the competencies required to cultivate global competence in students into 12 discrete disposition, knowledge, and skill elements. For each element, educators rate themselves as nascent, beginning, progressing, proficient, or advanced. The Globally Competent Learning Continuum also serves as a resource repository. The website provides articles, book chapters, websites, lesson plans, and classroom videos for each element so that educators can personalize their professional global learning journey. http://www.ascd.org/research-a-topic/global-engagement.aspx

Global Oneness Project

https://www.globalonenessproject.org/ | Twitter: @goproject | Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/globalonenessproject/ | Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/globalonenessproject/

The Global Oneness Project believes that stories play a powerful role in education. Founded in 2006, they are committed to the exploration of cultural, environmental, and social issues. They house a rich library of free multimedia stories comprised of our award-winning films, photo essays, and articles, accompanied by companion curriculum for teachers. Their curriculum, available in both English and Spanish, is aligned to National and Common Core Standards and contains an interdisciplinary approach to learning. They aim to connect, through stories, the local human experience to global meta-level issues, such as climate change, water scarcity, food insecurity, poverty, endangered cultures, migration, and sustainability. Through featuring individuals and communities impacted by these issues, their stories and lessons provide opportunities to examine universal themes that emphasize our common humanity—identity, diversity, hope, resilience, imagination, adversity, empathy, love, and responsibility. Their lessons facilitate the development of students' critical thinking, inquiry, empathy, and listening skills. Each week, they release a new lesson plan. All of their content and resources are available for free with no ads or subscriptions. The Global Oneness Project's films and lessons have been featured on National Geographic, PBS, The Atlantic, The New York Times, The New Yorker, TED Ed, and the Smithsonian, among others. Their educational resources are being used in diverse settings, from public to independent schools, nationally and globally.
