Attending the Conference
The conference is free to attend. Link and configuration information is below. Please consider registering at this site so we can keep you updated with any information or instructions, but you do not need to be registered (or to have your registration confirmed) in order to attend any sessions.
Our free, online conference starts Monday, November 12 and runs around the clock for five days. All sessions take place in Blackboard Collaborate webinar rooms linked off of this web site. No registration is required but we do encourage you to join this network for email updates and to connect with presenters and participants.
If you want to make sure your computer will run Blackboard Collaborate or you are having technical issues, please check out these BbC support materials (Mac trouble? Try HERE.)
To participate:
STEP 1: Go to the SESSIONS AND SCHEDULE PAGE.
STEP 2: Select your time zone and click on its blue link to the left of the cities listed.
STEP 3: The conference schedule should load on this page and you should be able to see all sessions in YOUR time zone. To quickly locate a session, search the page by using Control+F (Command+F on a Mac).
STEP 4: Click on a blue SESSION link.
STEP 5: You should arrive at a purple Blackboard Collaborate page. Enter your name and login.
(Note that you may have to download a small java applet to run Blackboard Collaborate).
Remember, click HERE for the "Sessions and Schedule" page and follow the instructions to choose the page for your time zone in order to see the conference schedule, or to attend a session or keynote, Information on using the conference software platform, Blackboard Collaborate, is also on this page.
To comment on sessions or connect with the presenter or other attendees, see the discussion forum posts under GEC Accepted Proposals.
If you have questions, please post them in the chat room (this shows up at the bottom of your page if you are registered and logged in) and people may respond if they are online at the time. Better yet, you can also post questions in our discussion forum.
Session recordings will be available shortly after sessions complete. Click HERE to access recording links.
Conference Sessions
To find the time of a particular session, look for it in one of the time-zone schedule pages below. While the actual session titles, descriptions, and live links to attend can be found by following the page links below, fuller session descriptions and commenting areas are HERE.
For presenters: if your session shows as having been accepted but you did not receive the acceptance email, a copy of the email is here and you should be sure to book a presentation time. Sessions that are not yet accepted, are on the waiting list, or have been sent back to the presenter for review are here.
Session in the calendar schedules below will have the session room links added a day or two before the conference.
Webinar Platform
The conference sessions are being held in Blackboard Collaborate (formerly Elluminate), and can be accessed live from any personal computer. (All sessions will also be recorded and posted quickly after the conference.) All sessions are free to attend, and the links to the sessions will go live in the schedule when the conference starts.
To check that your computer is ready for Blackboard Collaborate, please click here. "Step 1" will indicate if you have a version of Java that is compatible, and then "Step 2" lets you actually go into a test session. We encourage you to do this in advance of the conference. If you have any difficulties, you can ask for help in the WeCollaborate.com user community.
If you are on a Mac and having any troubles, see possible help HERE.
Conference Schedule
The links below are to Google calendar listings of the conference sessions in each of the world's time zones, specifically for the dates of November 12 - 16. You can use the link at the bottom of any of the individual calendar pages to bring the events into Google Calendar if you use it.
Important: each of the scheduled sessions will have a live Blackboard Collaborate session link added to it a day or two before the conference begins. On the day of the conference, you will click into the session in the calendar view, and then use the link provided to enter the session room.
Daylight Savings Time: Although we have tried to make all times accurate, please double check to make sure the time clock on your time zone page matches your current time, unless you are in DST now and will not be during the conference, as there are countries that make a Daylight Savings Switch between now and the start of the conference, so the time zones below are specific to November 12 - 16.
