2012 Advisory Board

I`m an English teacher at the Mariupol Secondary school #53 (experience:8 years). I am always ready to learn. It is important to be open for new knowledge and share your owns. Teaching is more than leading your students and being a darn good teacher. As for me, teaching is about reaching out past the four walls of your classroom and leading other teachers. I work with different learners, facilitate and lead change, as well as coach other teachers. I love my work. I really, really love my work. My daydreams about what's next have subsided and it's a relief. I'm very satisfied and know that I'm making a positive and substantial impact in education. I`m not afraid to take risks.

In our ever-changing society, as we grow to embrace the understanding that we live in symbiotic global relationships; that what we do here affects others elsewhere, I am mindful that I am evolving in my belief regarding what I perceive the ultimate purpose of education is actually supposed to be. For me, education can no longer continue to simply function as a seat time, come in, get your information, take a test, get your credit and be done with it system. We have gone too far socially for this concept to be readily accepted by everyone, and the data bear this out. Dropout rates, high absenteeism, gang involvement, and changing structures of families in our city’s communities, our country and around the world seem to indicate that our needs are changing; our needs or perhaps rather our desires. It is time to creatively and courageously propel teaching and learning on a broader scale for all humanity. (Twitter)

I've been working as an English language teacher since 2002. I particularly focus on teaching adults and young learners ( my previous longest working experience is connected with lower-secondary schools in Poland ). Now I try to develop my teaching skills in different languages' courses aimed at seniors and pensioners in a small local space called Przemków which is situated close to the borderline with Germany. I am a volunteer teaching Spanish and English at the Third Age University in Przemkow which is established non-formal citizens' association/organisation focused on educational and social initiatives among seniors. If I find any free time during weekends, I study Spanish language (Spanish Philology Faculty at WSJO Poznań). I love learning foreign languages, I'm interested in global changes among workers and socio-cultural issues in coherence with labour markets. My doctoral thesis titled Stereotypes about women executives in EU labour markets. Comparative analysis in Poland, Germany, Sweden and Spain. I had to be strong motivated and self-organised person to obtain funds/grants to do my academic research, taking into consideration qualitative methodology which is mostly lower valued than the quantitative ones in my country. I respect statistics but I prefer asking my respondents individually, constructing face to face interviews and organizing focus group interviews with the same group of respondents but .. after two - three years later after the first reasearch.
