iEARN at The Global Education Conference 2016

iEARN at The Global Education Conference 2016

November 13-16, 2016

iEARN is pleased to support the seventh annual Global Education Conference - a week-long online event open to all that brings together participants from around the world in an online environment. iEARN at The Global Education Conference will take place around the clock during International Education Week (November 13-16, 2016) in an online in webinar format using Blackboard Collaborate.

This year, iEARN at the Global Education Conference will invite educators, youth, and other partners and innovators to submit proposals that share examples and collaborative projects related to connecting classrooms and youth programs, with a strong emphasis on promoting global awareness, fostering global competency, and inspiring action towards solving real–world problems.  ALL iEARN participants are invited to attend, since attendance at this event requires no travel or logistics other than finding a way to get online!

Call for iEARN Proposals

We welcome all iEARN facilitators, educators, and students to share about their global project plans and experiences with iEARN at the Global Education Conference 2016. This event will enable you to share your iEARN experiences with our community and an even wider educational audience worldwide!

This virtual conference event will run 24/7 from November 13-16, 2016. iEARN participants will also have access to the sessions provided by educators and students who are part of the Global Education Conference. To submit a proposal to present, follow the detailed directions listed here.  Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis starting August 1, 2016, and the call for proposals will close on November 11, 2016. Present in your time zone at a time that is convenient to you!

Presentation sessions, which can be in any language, should be at least 30 minutes or more in length, and all sessions must be completed (including Questions & Answers) within one hour. You may submit more than one session proposal, but priority will be given to providing as many presenters the chance to present as possible before accepting additional sessions from a particular presenter. Some presentations ideas for educators and youth include:

  • A teacher, class, or group of classes project collaboration experiences from iEARN project participation;

  • About an iEARN project and how to join;

  • Ideas and/or project promotions for new iEARN projects;

  • Virtual media screenings from iEARN project work;

  • Professional development experiences for iEARN project participation.

All sessions will be held using Blackboard Collaborate.  Presenters will be responsible for being familiar enough with the program to present. We will provide a number of live training sessions where you can ask questions. To practice you can also sign up for the Collaborate trial room--information is at http://www.WeCollaborate.com.

iEARN will also host a series of preparation and practice webinar trainings leading up to the event. Join us on Blackboard Collaborate on:

  • Creating your session proposal: Friday, September 16 at 9:00 am EST

  • Planning for your presentation: Thursday, October 6 at 5:00 pm EST
