Hallo from South Africa ...
We are setting up a Festival of Sciences for March 28 to April 9, 2011. http://www.nydt.org/home.asp?pid=1168
We originally planned a [Science based] Games event for students in Africa, and wanted to create opportunities for students who live and go to school in under-resourced school communities to participate on the World [Science and Technology] Stage in programmes, projects and events. Less than 1% of these students have a fast internet connection at home.

Week 1 [AddVantage Week] is intended to give a vantage to school students who live and go to school in under-resourced communities in South Africa and Africa [Now Commonwealth countries as well]. The majority of them will work functionally on computers in international context for the 1st time.

During Week 2 [Design Creatorium] these students – now with upgraded skills levels and improved personal attributes [= more competitive in Global context] - will have the opportunity to do projects and compete internationally with students from other countries in Science Based Activity [SciBA].

What was originally intended to be an Africa event with participation by students and schools from other countries is now becoming a Global Schools’ Festival of the Sciences

For instance, there are already 37 schools from 12 countries across the World taking part in our International Law Festival [ILF] - to take place in real time and on virtual basis.

Our International Food Festival [IFF] will hopefully develop into something with Global significance as well. We hope to have at least 20 schools in so many countries involved in the Food Science programme. The programme consists of the following sections:

The Medieval Food Feastival: students have to do a Science project on medieval food preparation, and prepare a food feast [hence the name Food Feastival] on similar technology [open fire or ancient ovens etc]
The Future of Scientific Cooking: students have to take a leap into the future and imagine a scenario about 30 years into the future [When we will all be in trouble with a situation of Too many people, Too Little Food]: What will be their solution? And what will technology be like then?

Another event is the International Music Festival – so please get involved!!

Hi! I'd like to join the group!

I'm working on an international project and will be seeking advice with regard to technology in various countries.

Thanks!
