This is what I'm thinking for our summit....

First Hour: Pecha Kucha presentations related to global education and collaboration.

Second Hour: Small group crafting of a global collaboration manifesto

Third Hour:  Meet your collaborators "speed dating" sessions. We all sit across from each other at tables and have 1 minute to tell our global collaboration story or elaborate on our interests. At the end of sharing (2 minutes), one side of the table moves one chair to repeat the process with the next person across from them. The idea would be to help people to get to know each other a bit better.

Is this a virtual conference? If it is, I AM REALLY INTERESTED in the manifesto, COUNT ME INNNNN!

Roman,

Our main conference, the Global Education Conference, takes place in November and is completely virtual. This event, is a face to face get together, for people attending a tech conference in San Diego.

With this summit, we will try to videostream some of the activities and probably could write the manifesto in Google Docs. That way, people from afar could participate!

I know ISTE is taking place in San Diego, but for a moment I thought there would be a virtual moment during the conference, in which we could all participate.

As i mentioned in my reply, we will likely use videostreaming so that people not physically there will be able to view and chat about the proceedings. If we do create a manifesto, we will use Google Docs which is an online colalboration tool, and will provide a link for those who want to add their thoughts. Hope this clarifies!

Hi Lucy. I have been promoted in Colorado Springs School District 11 to Lead Educator for personalized learning using 21st century technologies. My program, "FACE IT-TRACE IT-ERASE IT" is now being used by over 500 students in 5 continents. My youtube (facetraceerase) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMuXyF8A3jU is being used as an introducion and I am coming out with a series of Vodcasts to help teachers understand the program. I would love to present at your confernece if i could do a satellite conferencing. We have the technology a District 11 and now we have the committment. They now know I am not going away. You can see our current work with IREX and the country of Kyrgyzstan at www.gcekyrgyzstan.ning.com. Take care.

Hi Jack -

Sorry for any confusion, but this is not going to be the same as our virtual conference in November. This is simply a get together at ISTE to talk global education, learn informally about the  work of others and possibly plan some projects and initiatives.

We hope to provide a virtual element by streaming some of the sessions!

Hope this clarifies!

Hello again Lucy. I apologize to everyone for not sending an explanation of my project "FACE IT-TRACE IT-ERASE IT" . I have attched documents this reply that will help explain it. Thank you.

I like the plan.  Would set up a DB to keep the list of "dating prospects" so that we can refer back to it once we get back home.  Your comment below about using Google docs would be a great place to work on the manifesto.

Would be happy to set up a virtual room in elluminate or Connect if you want to add far sites to the Pecha Kucha.

Could you be more specific about what you want in the Pecha Kucha...

Hi Lucy,

This is very exciting!  I integrate iEARN projects in my classes regularly and appreciate the invitation to participate in planning for the summit. I am very interested in crafting initiatives to promote global education.

Estimada Lucy. Felicito la iniciativa, un encuentro de construcción colectiva. Me gusta la informalidad que conduce a una producción de calidad. Me sumo al grupo. Abrazo desde Uruguay

Is it required to be a registered attendee at teh ISTE conference? I live and teach in So Cal and think that this 'unconference' and speed dating would be the most useful part of the week to get our school some true global connecitons and projects. Must we register, or can we physcially attend just this and then scoot?
