Dear Global Ed Colleagues,
Interested to know if anyone is interested in a weekly Twitter chat for #globaled? I get excited when #edchat, #sschat, and other chats address global education, but that only happens a few times a year. I think the topic deserves weekly discussion. Do you all think we have critical mass to sustain a weekly #globaled chat? And what would work best for time-zones? A 24-hour chat-a-thon, so all times zones are covered, would be cool and very GlobalEdCon, but that is hard to moderate (although it would be cool to pick a global education topic and watch it discussed around the world during a 24-hour period! Try that one #edchat! ;) )
Last year after GlobalEdCon-- and after we all get some sleep-- I thought there was momentum for a Twitter chat. This year I think the enthusiasm for GlobalEdCon II is demonstrating again that a weekly #globaled chat would work.
Are there enough chats already? Is a annual conference enough global education to last the year?
Love to hear your thoughts.
Cheers,
Dave Potter

Thanks for the message.
Well, the great thing about Global Education Conference is that it makes all us equally extreme! A #globaled chat would always require somebody somewhere to get up early, stay up late or miss the live chat. Maybe during GlobalEdCon there will be some great ideas thrown out about what might make sense to rotate times or whatnot to give everyone a chance to participate "live" from week to week.
Lets see what happens,
Dave

I'm in New Zealand, but I've had some successful webinar style discussions on Google+ relating to the PhD research I am conducting into open source educational software:

EduMOOCast July 27
Would be interesting in trying something similar here.
