VIRTUAL PLAY! Looking for partner group over the summer

Dear Fellow Global Educators, 

My partner and I are looking for a group of children to participate in a virtual play project we are piloting over the summer.  I know many schools are out on vacation, however, if you are involved in a summer camp, boys and girls club, day care or other community center we would love to have your participation! We began a global education initiative about two years ago connecting classrooms for projects, story shares and exchanges.  As we are developing new project ideas we are looking for other global educators to partner and collaborate with.  Our most immediate project is a virtual play project.  The idea is that two groups of children, one from the US and one from another country, will meet and virtually play for about 30 minutes.  Each group of children will teach the other specific games or variations of games from their country.  For example: Rock, Paper, Scissors, Hand clapping games, tic-tac-toe, jump roping games etc.  The games can be short and easy, just as long as they are culturally reflective.  The children  will need to be able to explain their game using words and/ or drawings.  Due to time differences we will need to "play" with countries that have less than an 8 hour time difference from New York.  The only requirement for this project is that you have a reliable internet connection and a webcam and a camera for the follow up discussion and activity.  WE NEED A COMMITMENT BY JULY 1ST so please contact me ASAP if you are interested!!!  Details are as follows: 

When: July 12, 2012

Where: US and other interested countries

How: Webcam

Length: about 30 mins for playing followed by a short discussion and activity 

Ages:  all 

Other details will depend on the participating country so we can discuss and decide on them together.

Nice to read your idea of such interesting project, my school is really interested and would like

to take part. My school is in Ghana and the time difference is about 5 to 6 hours. The name of the school is JOY STANDARD SCHOOL. Our website address is joystcollegegh.com.

We have the webcam and also uses skype. My skype name is jamesackon. I like the topic about GAME. There are a lot of interesting games in Ghana which is in line our culture.

I run a summer camp called The Exploratory - www.theexploratory.com. We would love to virtuallly play with you. We are actually using the Olympics and Games as a thread throughout the summer. So this would be perfect!
