Short Session Description: Sustainability 3.0 - Sustainability of Consciousness
Full Session Description:
A key for effective sustainable strategies for society and the environment is sustainability on a deeper personal level. This concept of Sustainability of Consciousness is based upon a three-level model of sustainability: environmental, socio-economic, and personal levels. Social and economic are interdependent parts of the same level. All three levels are interdependent and help each other to evolve. Sustainable strategies for all levels are classified as external and internal, for resource management and for waste management. Connections between social and economic aspects of sustainability are considered in relation to personal aspects which are sustainability of consciousness and human potential. Management of modern problems of the impact of information on consciousness is taken into account. The necessity of creating laws, regulations, and strategies for Sustainability 3.0 is pointed out.
Socio-economic structures at all levels of society from local to global are encouraged to integrate their efforts for the common goal of sustainability of consciousness. Education has a leading role in this common effort. An example of such an integration is considered in the "World Puzzle" project. This super-disciplinary concept is built upon the base of the concepts of Global Sustainability Education and Global Systems Thinking. It integrates the Philosophy and Ethics of Sustainability, Systems Thinking, System Dynamics, Sociology, Economy, Psychology, and Environmental Ecology.

Permalink Reply by Marina Bonser, PhD on October 29, 2012 at 4:32pm Hi Lucy,
I have corected some sentences and changed the tag. Please let me know if you mean something else by editing. My presentation fits perfectly for the conference topic but I am not sure what tag would be the best. First I put "2012Policy" because this new concept of Global Sustainability leads to updates in policies first before it will get to a curricular level. It seems like you don't think that Policy is a proper tag, so I have changed it to "2012GETideas". However it is not just ideas of educational technologies and programs, it is a whole new concept, a new direction within Global Education, one of the ways which can put together all our efforts. Before it gets to a curricular level it needs to be known by educational and organizational leaders who create policies and strategies in education and in society in general. I guess all that matters at the conference, what tag people will most likely use for finding this presentation. Please let me know what you think. Thank you!
Permalink Reply by Lucy Gray on October 29, 2012 at 10:42pm Please read the description of the GETIdeas strand. It is geared towards ed tech start ups and has additional requirements. I don't think this is what you've intended to apply for.
Innovation Perspectives with GETideas
Please just pick one of the required ones so that your proposal shows up in one of the conference strands. 2012Teachers, 2012Students, 2012Curricular, 2012Policy, 2012Gaming
Thanks for your cooperation!
