Seeking global partners for IEARN Project: Digital Citizenship--becoming digitally responsible

I have designed a project for IEARN and currently seeking global partners to begin this project. Kindly read the details of the project below


Title: Digital Citizenship – becoming digitally responsible

Summary: Students will learn about the notion of Digital Citizenship and learn to develop responsible on line behaviors through focused awareness raising activities.
Rationale of the Project: Our youth confidently use digital tools often without realizing their responsibility to use digital tools/services/forums/ both to respect the rights of others and at the same time protect themselves from potential threats. This project is developed to help our native digital users become aware of their rights and responsibilities and to spread the message to benefit the wider community.

Description of the Project: The project aims at making students aware of their responsibility while working online. Students will understand the term ‘Digital Citizenship’ and what it means in their context. They will learn Digital etiquette, make conscious efforts to practice them and spread them amongst their friends and family. They will become aware of e-safety by learning about common web threats such as computer viruses (spyware, malware, adware, phishing, & pharming) and web issues such as copy right laws, cyber bullying, and plagiarism.

Age/level of project participants: 9-16 years/ level 1-10

Timetable/Schedule for the project: 1-2 months /throughout the year

Possible project/classroom activities: Analyzing personal practice, sharing online experiences amongst themselves and with their partners. Online search, interviews of digital users using video/audio files, word documents, mobile messages, e-mails, Skype, face book etc. Pupils will interpret and analyze the collected data to see online patterns/trends in different cultural and regional settings. They will then hold classroom discussions to develop a list of digital etiquette and e-safety rules to be shared with their partners. They will develop a list of common threats and how to stay safe. They will then plan strategies to design and conduct an awareness campaign Digital Citizenship –becoming digitally responsible. They will exchange campaign ideas with the partner school before conducting it in their respective schools involving both the students and the community. Both the schools will take feedback from students and parents to be shared with each other after the campaign to reflect on lessons learnt and to develop future action plans.

Expected outcomes/products: Blog posts, video/audio files, email exchanges, planning sheets, posters, and presentations for the campaign. Documentation of entire project in the form of power point/video

Project contribution to community: Developing an understanding of online issues in cultural & regional contexts to spread awareness among youth to take responsibility of their actions. To strengthen ties between partner schools thus promoting the spirit of collaboration, tolerance, acceptance and community service.
